Yik Update

I just talked with Yik's wife. He is out of ICU and in a regular room at Vandy.. The swelling has gone down considerably and only the bruising on his face is the majority of discomfort... Though his leg is broken the Dr said it's in the right place so they don't have to do surgery. He only has to wear a boot for awhile. He has been up walking today and is coherent most of the time with brief spells of confusion. He doesn't remember the wreck very well which is probably a good thing. Savanah his wife is really appreciative for our thoughts and prayers. Please continue to keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayer and also please be safe out there riding....

Scott,
Thanks for the update. Same question. Besides our concern is there anything specific we can do? There's a line between being helpful and being a distraction that usually only close friends know.

My plans are to stop by the hospital tomorrow. I plan on getting ideas from Savanah about how we may be able to help. She is Asian and communication with her over the phone can be difficult. I hope face to face will be better at getting ideas on how we can help.. I will post tomorrow my findings. Thanks for your concern guys..

I saw Yik today. Well what can I say, he is a little worse that his wife made it out to be. The frontal lobe of his brain suffered major damage. Long story short, he is not the same person now. Dr's are evaluating him today to grade if his old personality will come back, or if he is going to live with this different personality (which Savannah said is frustrating) She said he has times when he's his old self, and then times when it's this new personality. They had me talk at lengths with him to see how cognitive he really is. Let's just say I hope he gets better with time. It doesn't appear that his brain is in sync. He definitely is in and out of clarity.

They are a very proud Asian family with lots of family and friends for support. As far as anything we can do, let's post some ideas and collectively agree on something.
