Cycling shoe recommendations

Looking for suggestions on new cycling shoes, please.  Unfortunately Ira and I skidded out on a corner coming home from White House yesterday...both of us are generally OK (road rash and stiff!), but the new Assos shorts from Santa and my shoes are both toast.  What shoes are best for year round riding (cool in the summer and potentially insert for the winter), comfortable, etc.

Thanks and appreciate any tips

Ouch! Sorry to hear this.

I like the Giro Factors. Nice and breathable, but a decent set of toe or shoe covers makes them good in cold weather. They also come with the Giro fit inserts, so you can adjust based on needed arch support. Got mine on eBay for $99.

Glad to hear that remaining concerns are bike gear and not body parts !
I've been wearing SIDI per Doug Depew's recommendation and never regretted it.

So sorry to hear about your crash, hope you're recovering well. As others may have mentioned it's hard to go wrong with Sidi. I also like the Northwave I wear. They have a little more room in the toe box area which allows me to wear a thin sock liner and a pair of woolies in the winter and my feet stay warm. If a shoe fits to snug my feet tend to get cold faster. I also like the to covers to cover the vents in the winter also.

I'm with Jason on the Giro's! Have had Sidi, Carnac, Garneau, DMT, Northwave and others .... Giro Factors and SLX are the most comfortable and best I've ever owned.

Thanks for the advice...time to start shopping! Will look at the Sidis and the Giro Factors as well. No pink...I don't think pink shoes are fast enough to keep up with you guys! Appreciate the post-crash support as well. Swelling down enough that the bruise is starting to look pretty colorful, and stiffness is starting to get better too. All in all very very lucky.
