Saturday Ride, Blossom Thai-Lao at 8 AM

Something new and rather different this week. We'll start from Blossom Thai Lao restaurant at 750 West Main Street in Hendersonville. If space is short, plenty of parking across the street at the 699 Building lot.

The route will be different too, taking advantage of light weekend morning traffic through Rivergate to get to climb up Dry Creek and Union Hill. From there it's a fun ride on Dividing Ridge and Smiley Hollow to Ridgetop, before the routes split for varying distances back.

43 miles, store at 24
49 miles, store at 24
58 miles, store at 28

Then you'll be ready to select from perhaps the widest selection of brew in town and some great Thai-Lao food. Hope to see you there.

Awesome Ride today from the Gallatin Civic Center!

I want to take a minute to say what an awesome ride we had today from the civic center in Gallatin up to Hartsville and back. What a great group of riders we had in both groups! Yes it was hot, maybe the hottest day so far but there was no complaining, we all stated together and left no one behind. Everyone rode safe with great communication and most met afterwards at Prince Street Pizza for some good fellowship, pizza, cold beer and diet soda (Gary).
Thanks for making today special, I am blessed to have the Fogbees as friends and family. Thanks Doc, Gary, Lucy, Steve the sweeper, John, Danny, Jonathan, Doug, Adam and (Sean for a short while). If I left someone out I apologize but I think that was everyone in our group.
Miley and Lindsay did a little scouting for later in the year, stay tuned.
If you weren't there we missed you and hope to see you soon on another great Fogbee ride!

The good news is it looks like the rain will be well off to our east. Not so good is how much it will heat up during the morning. Start hydrating Friday to prepare for these rides to Hartsville!

Fogbee's Annual Red Boiling Springs Ride 2017

October 21st, 22nd 2017

Spring has sprung and summer is here, the riding season is flying by and we just got back from a great weekend in Memphis. Fall will be here before we know it, that means it’s time to start thinking about the Fogbee’s annual overnight ride to Red Boiling Springs.

This ride is a Fogbee tradition. Red Boiling Springs is located just the right distance from Hendersonville with the Hartsville option to make a nice one day ride for every rider level. It goes through beautiful scenery and this year the ride is later (October) so we should see some beautiful fall foliage and colors making it a must ride. The roads are generally smooth with low traffic. Dennis and Debra Emery of Armour's Hotel are great hosts. This trip fills up fast but there is room for everyone with three hotel options in Red Boiling Springs and they all are near one another.

Any questions let me know and I’ll try to answer or will get you an answer, any ideas let me know, any volunteer’s to help with some arrangement’s…let me know.

Mike may be working on another day or two thrown in like last year (Thursday and Friday) if so we will let you know with updates.

Armour's Hotel. http://armourshotel.com/index.htm armourshotel@yahoo.com, (DENNIS PERFERS YOU EMAIL HIM) this is our host facility. This will be our 9th or 10th trip to Red Boiling Springs and Armour's and the Emerys are the consensus favorite. They have a total of 14 rooms, each can accommodate at least two people, some three. Prices range from $85/night to $129/night for two people. This includes breakfast (Chocolate Gravy!! oh yea!) but not dinner. That is $15 per person +tax/tip (you will not leave hungry). The Armour fills up, but there are two other historic hotels very near. These are discussed below. Armour's is holding all their rooms on Saturday night for Fogbee’s and is currently booked but email Dennis to get on the waiting list. Thomas House and The Donoho Hotel’s are just down the street and available make your reservation early. The Armour’s can accommodate all of us for dinner. If anyone has specific dietary restrictions, please let us know and they can likely be accommodated. The standard fare is southern cooking and various sides. They have some special menus on request. Armour Hotel Phone # 615-699-2180. Tell them you are with the Fogbees.

The two other nearby Historic Hotels are located on same street within half mile of each other. Each has a distinct personality and great places to stay as well.

Thomas House. http://www.thomashousehotel.com/ 615-699-3006 It is more like a huge home with lots of guest rooms. All rooms are entered from inside. The lobby and halls are chocked full of antiques and old pictures. They are great hosts and do a great breakfast. The house is purportedly haunted, has been featured on several ghost hunting shows and does “ghost experiences” throughout the year.

Donoho Hotel. http://www.thedonohohotel.com/ 615-699-3141 The food is great and some Fogbee's prefer to stay here. It was the site of our first ever Fogbee over nighter so has a special place in the old Fogbees memories.

Bruce and County Exec Anthony Holt Talk Greenways

A rumor is floating that Bruce and County Exec Anthony Holt colluded to put speed bumps on Mud Hollow.  I am here to report - It's not true!

Yes, according to Doug Depew, there are speed bumps on Mud Hollow that could be very dangerous to those few FOGBEES that let 'er rip on downhills.  Doug says the bumps are in a very nasty spot.

Bruce and Anthony did have a long discussion on the future plans for greenways along Station Camp Creek road.  We have added all the details on the Hendersonville Bike/Ped Committee website page http://www.bikinhville.com/StationCamp.html

The details of their meeting will be published around June 15'th in a local magazine.  For an early look at the article http://www.bikinhville.com/files/GW/IndianLakePenLiving.pdf

Memphis In June Trip- Sunday Option Route Added

This is the plan and routes:

Everyone will be arriving at different times throughout the afternoon.  At some point, the plan is to hit the Flying Saucer, which is very near the hotel, for dinner and drinks.  Beale Street following is optional .

Saturday morning, we will ride from the hotel at 8:00AM.  There are two route options, but they travel some of the same roads.  We also will be stopping at the same spot for some lunch and beverage, the Shelby Forest Grocery Store.

After the ride, we will have our recovery happy hour somewhere in the hotel, which is to be determined.

Saturday night, we will have dinner at the Rendezvous Restaurant.  The best ribs served on the finest paper plates.   Beale Street is optional again Saturday night.

Sunday morning ride is optional.  The Tour Group takes off for Bolivar.  See their website at https://memphis2017.blogspot.com
