Beat the Heat

With little relieve from the 90 plus degrees and humidity, hydration is more important than ever.  Tom Benim found a great DIY article relative to sweat, cramps, and electrolyte supplements.

We have added it to the FOGBEE website for future reference.  Look under Body Safety.

I will have the fit kits at the rides Thursday, Saturday and Next Tuesday  I have regular and relaxed fit for men's jerseys in what is called the FONDO.

Also have sleeves jerseys for the women.  The sleeveless are the same fit as the regular women's jerseys in the FONDO. So if you want a regular jersey, you can try on the sleeveless for fit.

On the jerseys with the sleeves when we get to 6 jerseys the price will drop to $64.  After 25 it drops to $59. It does not matter if we order club, regular men's or women's in  the FONDO jerseys with sleeves, they all go towards the discount.

The sleeveless jersey prices are 2-5 $79, 6-24 $64.

See you on the road,

Mike

eBike Law Information Added to FOGBEE Website

Last year, I wrote a magazine article about the eBike, featuring Carey Rogers (click here). Those of you who know Carey, know he is the biker's biker.  Co-founder Bike/Walk Tennessee, past VP of Walk/Bike Nashville, co-founder of Nashville Slow Riders, and co-founder of new Bike PAC Safe Streets Campaign..  Carey owns and rides two eBikes
.
This year one of the six co-founders of the FOGBEE bike club, Brett Dauer, crossed over to the dark side.  He isn't alone. An eBike is definitely on the radar for several more senior members of the FOGBEES.  It is really hard to pass up having EVERY hill being a downhill ride.  One of the potential cross-overs shared this article, which nearly "seals the deal," Study finds that e-bike riders get as much exercise as riders of regular bikes .

To help everyone get ready for what appears to be imminent, we have added eBike LAW information on the FOGBEE website (see this link and Bike Law page.) eBikes operate under laws different than those for a pedal bike and can vary significantly by State.  Best to educate yourself before taking the plunge.  Get ready for the Electric Turtles.

HOT 100 CANCELLED

Murfreesboro Bike Club (POSTED at 2PM 8/14/19 on FACEBOOK)

It is with much anguish and a conflicted heart that we inform you that the Executive Board of MBC and the co-directors of the HOT have decided to cancel the 2019 Edition of the HOT 100.

Sarah and I have both been experiencing some major life changes which have prevented us from giving the HOT the attention it needs and since The Murfreesboro Bike Club prides itself in putting on a quality event, not just a bike ride, we have come to realize that this year’s event would not meet our standard.

And I would like to thank all of the committee chairs and volunteers for all the time they have spent getting ready, Thank you! You are greatly appreciated!

If you have registered for the HOT 100, you will receive a full refund within the next few days.

We're Pedaling to Canada

Well, we already did that.  Bruce detailed the trip in his Crazy Guy on a Bike Journal.  Here is the first part of a three part magazine story about our excursion.  Yes, we are already planning our next BIG week-long bikecations. Where to? Mickelson Trail in South Dakota, Chicago or loop around Lake Michigan, Nova Scotia, or who knows where. They are always great biking adventures not to be missed.
