HB 437 heard in House today

Bike Walk Tennessee not only works to promote legislation that benefits Bike/Ped, but we also work to stop bills that potentially harm.

I called Speaker Harwell’s office this AM and was assured that the bill will not make it out of committee.

Subject: HB437: Allowing Rolling Right Turns on Red

This is a little late but tomorrow in the General Sub Committee of House Transportation HB 437 will be heard. It would allow vehicles to make a right turn at red lights without stopping. Obviously this would be very dangerous for cyclists and pedestrians. Contact your house member, especially if they’re on the House Transportation committee, and let them know of your concerns.

Traffic Safety - As introduced, deletes requirement that vehicle making right turn on red signal come to full and complete stop prior to making such turn. - Amends TCA Title 55, Chapter 8.
