A Nice Way to Start this Saturday (8/2/14)

HI guys, Please let the rest of the Fogbee's know that I still have 4 Senior bike course openings usually reserved for Fogbee Volunteers (ie…done first) (stationary spots…no riding required)

Would like to give these last four Senior Bike spots to Fogbee's. :)

25mm Tires Beat 23mm - Report on BikeTiresDirect.com

The skinnier and higher pressure the tires, the faster the bike, right? Well, no, actually. Speed comes down to a variety of factors, and even many pro road riders these days are choosing wider rubber for training and racing.

RAGBRAI Gone Quiet. Last Photo. Jersey Change

Oh crap! Where's my tent?

Report from Mike Knake at 7:45P, 7/22/14.  All 12 FOGBEES did 108 miles today! All are doing well, but the cell phone service is jammed.  They can't get any pictures out.  Will be near larger town tomorrow and expect to be able to send everything then.  So, stay tuned.

RAGBRAI Breakfast

Courtesy, Image, and Bike Lanes

Hope our local biker/motorist relationship doesn't deteriorate to the levels of animosity described, but it is one more reminder of the importance of our image to the general public.  DTI

Comments on Demetrius Post & Crash last Saturday

I'm sorry that Demetrius was injured in the crash last Saturday and I hope he heals quickly.

My reason for this post is that I found out today that my son Robert, through the Fogbee rumor mill, was thought to be the "unknown" rider described in Demetrius' post. The reason that he was being considered as the "unknown" one is because the "unknown" rider was supposed to have been wearing a Bikers Choice kit. Gary Williams took a picture of a number of riders at the start of the ride and Robert was the only one  in the picture wearing a Bikers Choice kit; therefore he had to be the one described in the post.

Thank You

Thank you all for the on scene first aid and well wishes after my "spill" on Saturday. All will be okay in time. I will be on crutches for a couple weeks with a hip injury and a bunch of other cursory injuries.  Time line unknown at this time. Aside from myself and Curtis, Im just glad nobody else was injured.

Secondly, with some humility, I wanted to apologize for being somewhat hypocritical after the crash by not going to the ER in an ambulance. After we put on the Cycling First Aid class earlier this year, we made it clear that the injured person should not wave off an ambulance if "first responders" feel that you "need it." I did feel well enough to get a ride, but as my hip injury left me painfully immobilized, I should have been told to get an ambulance. Lesson learned, I am sorry.

New jerseys

Now that most of us have gotten our jerseys and had a chance to try them on....

If you ordered a medium fondo and it's a little tighter than you like and would like to swap for a medium sport let me know.
