My Social Security Accounts Moving

I know this is a weird post for a cycling blog, however, I have encouraged many of you over the years to create a "My Social Security Account" to first secure you SS# from hacking, then to be able to run what if retirement senerios, then when you want to get your SS or Medicare, it is almost essential to have this account. The government is transitioning access to your My Social Security account to Login.gov or ID.me If you have either of those accounts, your existing My Social Security will be linked, and no action is necessary. If you don't, I would reccommend you sign into your My Social Security account very soon, and follow the link to transition it. At some time in the near future, if you don't transition you will lose access to the account and have to start over. One final note, it is sort of a PITA to do the transition, for me I had to verify my Drivers License number, Type of vehicle I owned, the license plate of the vehicle and last 8 digits of one major credit card. Here is the official Press release link. SS Press Release

Red Boiling Springs October 25th, 26th, 27th

It is only July but October will be here before we know it, and that means Fall 2024 ride to Red Boiling Springs! with great friends, great routes, excellent food and good times. I know of one birthday we will celebrate. We will leave Gallatin on Friday October 25th, ride to Hartsville for lunch and then on to RBS for fun, fellowship, food and drink. Saturday 26th we will have a few local long and short routes planned, fellowship and dinner Saturday night, then ride back to Gallatin on Sunday.

Mark and Kallay the inn keepers are excited and looking forward to having us back for another fun weekend. We have the entire hotel booked with 13 rooms. Currently I have the following rooms available: double bed (down stairs), double bed (up stairs), there is also a twin bed room (down stairs) if someone wanted to share and split a room, or if you don't mind a twin bed. I am holding one room for folks that will decide soon. But not to fear as there are other hotels in the area and just down the street so we can all still gather and fellowship on the front porch at the Armour's and enjoy Kallay's wonderful cooking.

If you want to attend and enjoy three days of cycling with the FOGBEES, or two days or even one day please reach out to me as we have routes that can accommodate most everyone. For example if you want to ride from Gallatin to Hartsville and have lunch with us; there is a route. If you want to park in Hartsville and ride to RBS; there is a route, same on the returns. Saturday we will ride from the Hotel into Gainesboro and back, several routes available, 60+, 51, and a shorter route. Sunday we ride back to where we parked, Hartsville if you parked there or Gallatin.

This is a rain or shine ride, and many of us have rode it in all kinds of weather, makes for good conversation on the porch. This is always a fun weekend for the FOGBEES and their wives or significant other, if you are interested, give me a call at 615-572-5045, email me jerialwoodall@gmail.com, or catch me on a ride soon.

If you have never been, you need to go. This has turned into a Fogbees tradition, I am not 100% sure on how many years but at least 14 years, one year a few of us went twice, spring and fall. Lets make it happen, see ya there!!

JERSEY

I bought a new Fogbees Jersey from Jackroo without looking at the sizing chart. I ordered a Mens Medium regular cut. I am 5.9 and 165lb and it is way too small for me. I paid $127 including tax and would like to get $75 for it. If you are interested let me know and I will bring to a ride and you can try it on

You can see pictures on the Fogbees Facebook page

Trailer Hitch Bike Rack

Greetings to all Fogbees and Fogbee friends,

I am looking for a trailer-hitch bike rack.  After starting the shopping process, I am in sticker shock.  If anyone has a lead on used rack, I would be very happy to consider buying it.  Please give me a call or shoot me a text with any information.

Thank you,

Lindsay

You Only Turn 70 Once Ride, Saturday, June 15th

My wife, Sherry, and my daughter, Meghann,  are throwing a bash for my 70th birthday this Saturday, June 15th, at The Farm because they think its something worth celebrating.   Grilling will include hamburgers and brats.

As an FYI our favorite Canadian, yes Lindsay, also has a birthday Friday.  She’s getting ever so close to 40 years old.   Great people were born on the 14th, Flad Day!

Dave Miley is going to plan some routes that I am sure that will include some of my favorite roads.  Unfortunately, they probably won't include Dobbins Pike as it is a little too far.  I am sure he will include some others.  Ride time will be at 8:00AM from The Farm.

My borther-in-law and sister-in-law have offered their pool and pool house for the festivities.  So, bring a chair and side along with your bathing suit and a towel and sun poolside.

Husbands, wives, significant others are invited as well.

Post what sides you are going to bring.

Come join the fun.  Who knows, I might even show up.

Watch for updates to the post with routes, etc.

See you on the road,

Mike

Andrew Getter

After two weeks of increasing back pain Andrew was found to have multiple abscesses along his epidural spine from neck down. He had surgery to drain these at Southern Hills Medical Center last night. He is back in a Critical care room, alert and generally feeling well. He will have several weeks of antibiotic but how long that will be in hospital depends on infection response. As of now he is in CCU 11 on 2nd floor.

Shan Boone "Doc Brew"

With a heavy heart I want to inform you that we have lost another FOGBEE. "Doc Brew" or "Doc" as we called him lost his battle with cancer last night and passed, he was 51 just a few days from his 52nd birthday..

His wife Keri told me they "will be making plans in the coming days and want to make sure all Shan's biking friends are included. He loved you all. I will keep you posted"

Bruce Update (revised from 12/22/23)

1/22/24: Today mid afternoon, Bruce finally got home.  He felt much more comfortable in his own bed. He still requests that we refrain from calling, emailing or texting until he regains more strength. He just gets too tired.

He said that he will reach out to us as he begins to feel well and strong enough.

1/17/24: Bruce has had a tough time but he said he is feeling quite good.  Late this afternoon he finally got moved from the ICU to a step down floor.  Still no word on when he may get discharged.  He still tires very quickly. His spirit remains very positive.

"Bruce is out of surgery. Heart good. Only two bypasses. Said good bypass material." Wilma - 01/05/24: 1 PM

12/22/23: Bruce and Wilma very much appreciate everyone's concern and best wishes.  Please wait no calls or visits until Bruce is home in a week.
