Congratulations to us

This from Phillip Pugliese, one of the founders of Bike Walk Tennessee and largely responsible for Chattanooga's emerging bicycle culture.

Many Fogbees can be counted among those calls and emails.

Hello,

Spoke with Toks Omishakin today at a transportation meeting and of course the efforts of BWT and the gas tax bill came up.  He specifically said to “pop open a bottle of champagne” for your success.  TDOT was not happy at all with this legislative session and your efforts were definitely noticed and recognized.  One of the legislators told him that they had “never” received as many calls/emails as on this bill.

Well done!

My kind of bike shop

Sanders Ferry Greenway

This month's article in the Indian Lake Peninsula Living magazine outlines the plans for a greenway along Sanders Ferry Road.

This large glossy magazine is mailed monthly by N2 Publishing to residents of Indian Lake Peninsula.  A sister copy with personalized articles is available to residents of Fairvue Plantation.  Ed Thomas has been known to write for it.
We've written about 30 articles over the past couple of years and are always looking for ideas and photos about which to write. HINT!  In future copies the Indian Lake version, we will cover the Warrior Bike Trail and Pedal for Paws and include lots of pictures of FOGBEES.  Bob, Doug, Bruce, Phil, Miley, the Peel Family, Haley, Kellie, Christy, just to name a few, have shared their biking experiences.  Send me a note.

Advocacy Update: Gas-Tax Bill Defeated

This afternoon Representative Carter withdrew HB1650--SB1716, the troublesome anti-bike and anti-greenway bill that proposed to strip funding from bicycle and pedestrian projects.
Hundreds of people signed area petitions, contacted their representatives, shared the message with friends and family and helped defeat this bill. Assisting in the effort were Bike Walk Tennessee, the American Heart Association, Greenways for Nashville, etc. Also Mayor Barry came out against the bill.

Congratulations to Pedal For Paws

The 6'th Annual Pedal for Paws Ride continues to set the standard of bike rides designed for bicyclists.  It had the behind the scenes touch of the old master Bruce Day making sure the event addressed all issues that may be important to bicyclists from great routes, excellent rest stops, exceptional support from police, EMTs, Radio Amateur Emergency Service, and Motorcycle Safety Riders.  Even the unusually cold weather could not keep participants away.
Special kudos goes to Kim Sullivan, Ride Director, whose tireless dedication has made Pedal for Paws the event to emulate.

Air compressor

My neighbor has a brand new Sears air compressor for sale. 20 Gal, asking $250. Would be great for anyone that does some of their own bike maintenance.
