Fogbees' Ride to the Sky was Spectacular

Wow! What a beautiful ride! By my count 6 Fogbees rode the Calfkiller Ride to the Sky yesterday in Cookeville: Johnny D (honorary member for the day), Jeff, Ralph, Sean, Todd and yours truly. We thought it would be scenic, but it far exceeded our expectations. With law enforcement and motorcycle escort, we immediately were on sweet back roads. Fabulous views kept coming, one after another over Golden Mountain, south to Sparta, then northeast along Calfkiller River up a gradual 1000' climb to Monterey at the top of the Cumberland Plateau, then down exhilarating descents to a police escort through Algood (where it was all good) and to the finish.

Top it all off with Calfkiller beer, bbq, and live music, and this became an instant classic that we will come back to as long as they have it. Speaking of Calfkiller beer, the brewery was also the 2nd rest stop, where Jeff, Todd and I sampled their nut brown ale, before climbing the plateau. EPIC!!!

Six years ago, when many of us would do anything for a beautiful Fall Ride, we did this route. Here is a link to the video we created. http://goo.gl/oVOUAM. Turn down the sound to eliminate that annoying background music. We got rain and we got snow, but we also got spectacular views.

Hopefully we can gather enough interest to ride this one on our own in the near future. It's definitely one of the best metrics I've ever done....

I'd forgotten about that ride but to be honest, don't have the legs for it any more. It is a beautiful area.

Over the next couple weekends I would love to ride the route with a group of Fogbees! Todd is up for it too, so we should try to get a time to head out that way before it gets too cold :)
