I will miss one of my best friends, and there is so much one can say over the past nine years. Gary was one of the first to welcome me to the Fogbees in 2013. He’s an outstanding individual, he was there for a lot of people as an attorney, as a friend and helped several Fogbees and their families thru some tough times. There’s a lot of stories we can tell about Gary, good stories, fun stories. He enjoyed life his positive attitude was contagious. He was an honest, fair, hard working, loving person. Sometimes he might forget his shoes, his helmet, or his battery, but I’ll never forget when he showed up for our Sunday Fun Day Ride and he had forgot his bike. We all started laughing and waited for him to go back home to get, that was just Gary.
He can now play hockey with angels and ride his golden bike on silver wings everyday. No more suffering, no pain in this life.
I love you and will miss you my friend.
Ride On buddy!

Gay and I first met on the Hendersonville tennis courts some 40 years ago when we had seemingly an infinite number of days and endless possibilities before us. We kept in touch over the years but it was not until he joined the Fogbees that we really got to know each other. Gary was an early and the most eager Fogbee of us all. He is responsible for much of what makes the Fogbees special. He organized a couple of trips to the St Louis area and is the main reason we have our Red Boiling Springs weekends. He kept us peddling over the winter with his Fogary sessions at the YMCA.

His Christmas Lights Ride Santa was probably the most recognized by the community. What began as a few Fogbees cycling about looking at Christmas decorations was transformed into a spectacle when Gary showed up dressed as Santa pulling a sled with Rudolf. He involved a children’s charity and eventually, the Hendersonville police. In 2019 Gary was absent. The Christmas ride did not occur. We were missing him already.

In addition to the cycling family, Gary had an ice hockey family, a lawyer family, and a blood relatives family. He was loved by all. Perhaps this video taken at Big Looy’s at the after party of the first Christmas Lights ride in 2007 best captures the essence of Gary. https://drive.google.com/file/d/17Fg-1CrT9j6pSkEUR_tFtwNxILuvT9td/view?usp=sharing

Bruce said it better than any of us and covered it all. Gary was the FOGBEE "spark plug", always with unequaled enthusiasm. He will be missed.

It was 2006 or 2007 in the infancy if the Fogbees and on a Saturday ride a small group of us started from Big Looy’s and had come our Saundersville road to Lower Station Camp road. Low and behold there was a guy walking, carrying his bike and we stoppyto ask him if he was OK. He indicated he was on a ride with another group, had a flat tire, and got no help. He didn’t have tools or a tube, so we banded together and fixed the tire. This was our first encounter with Gary Williams. We invited him to come on and ride with us and he obliged. That was a first and we couldn’t get rid of him after that day! He was an integral member of the Fogbees. I personally would have lunch with him several times a month when I was working. He always brought a positive attitude and challenge. Gary was the worst at forgetting his gear. He wouldn’t have socks, or a head sweat, or he’d for get his helmet. Once he even forgot his bike! Gary had connections at Glenbrock and he rented the clubhouse for multiple Halloween parties. Gary was an avid DJ and would provide the DJing and the light show. We would have a potluck dinner, costume competition and dance.mist years over a hundred would drop in for the festivities. Gary was a good guy, helping people in the community and supporting his friends. He will be sorely misssed.
