Man, this guy looks just like a certain Fogbee lawyer I know.

Special BOMA Meeting
Some of you are dissatisfied with the vote of H'ville BOMA to "can" the Walton Ferry intersection straightening project. A special meeting has been called at City Hall on Tuesday March 6'th at 7:30 to vote on this project. Citizen's comments start at 7:30, but you must register before the meeting in order to speak your mind. The only business on the agenda is a vote Ordinance 2012-5 to accept federal funding for this project.

Sebring
Sebring 2012 is in the books and once again the Fogbee colors were worn by Jennifer and Tom. Special thanks to Marilynn for being our crew.
Even though Jennifer had to retire early due to knee problems, she still logged 162 miles and finished first in her age/category. I managed to hang on for 21.5 hours and finished with 226 miles. I stopped short of 24 hours for sore hands and elbows. Still have a case of ODN. [Opposable Digit Neuropathy, aka tingling thumbs :-) ]
What amazed me most was seeing some folks still clocking 30+ mph laps at 4:00 AM.
Check out the pics on Shutterfly.

Station Camp Cleanup - DATE MOVED
We have gotten really excited for our second annual Community Cleanup on Station Camp Creek. We’ve decided to go ahead and push it back to Saturday March 24th to give us more planning time and allow for more people to get involved. We had a great time last year, and the huge piles of debris were pretty impressive. It was quite therapeutic to see that area recover from the aftermath of the flood back in May of 2010.

The Cedars of Lebanon Triathlon originally scheduled for Sunday, August 5th has been moved to Saturday, May 19th to replace the cancelled GJCC Triathlon.
Note the Cedars of Triathlon race distances have been reduced to be in line with our normal offering for a short-distance early season triathlon in middle Tennessee.

Overnight Rides for 2012
We missed a Fogbee Spring ride last year and though we did a July make up, I learned why few rides are scheduled in July. This year we hope to do better. Here are two rides in the offing.
1. Fobee Weekend Ride on Chief Ladiga/Silver Comet. Rough plans are to drive to a starting point in Alabama, probably Jacksonville, AL Friday and stay in local motel. Next day ride Chief Ladiga Trail to near Atlanta and have after ride party somewhere in Atlanta. Non riding significant others would drive to Atlanta, shop, visit family, etc. Saturday morning. US 278 roughly parallels the trails most of the way so a meeting for lunch or part of way ride is possible. The full ride from Jacskonville to Smyrna is about 80 miles. Drive back from Atlanta Sunday. No specifics yet but April 20,21, 22 has been suggested as dates. Please respond to this post if you are interested in riding. Any and all advice and help needed as this is one ride with which I am unfamiliar.
2. Mid America 2012. My Australian touring buddy, Bob Schofield is back in the USA this year and is leading a ride from Westmoreland, TN to the Washington DC area. We'll be gathering at my home and shuttled to Westmoreland. Th full ride is three weeks but I only plan to do the first week and get fetched back home. Anyone interested in doing some or all of this, please mail me at bruceeday_at_gmail.com. REplace the _at_ with the standard @ symbol. A complete description of the ride is at Mid America12
I encourage anyone with the time and courage to do it. We'll be firming up camping, motel, and transportation arrangements in the next month.

Clean-up Station Camp Creek
. . We're gearing up for our second annual cleanup on Station Camp Creek on Saturday March 10. We had a great turnout last year, and got rid of a lot of trash and flood debris. We've partnered with the County, who provides all the supplies, and the City, providing the trash pickup. We would just love to have some of you volunteer to help. The group of kayakers who frequently use the creek helped out immensely last year. As a runner who loves that stretch and can't wait for the Greenway to open, I imagine some of you feel as strongly about keeping it beautiful as I do.
. . Again, we meet on Saturday March 10, 9AM at the parking lot of Station Camp High School and cover what we can until lunch. If it rains, we just push it back to the next Saturday. I update on the project on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/ longhollowgardensandnursery
Look forward to your participation! Click for Poster

FOGBEE Spirit.
. . In September 1989, about a month after Roscoe Phillips and Ann Kimball said "I do" at a church in Germantown, they went on a honeymoon most newlyweds wouldn't consider, much less accomplish.
They biked from Johnson City to Tims Ford State Park in Winchester, Tenn., in the annual Bicycle Ride Across Tennessee organized by the Tennessee State Parks Department. It took them seven days to cover more than 460 miles -- the route was indirect -- and they had to cope with rain from Hurricane Hugo practically all the way.
. . Roscoe and Ann Phillips have ridden their bicycles together across the United States and throughout Europe and Asia. Roscoe, 75, started cycling to avoid heart disease that runs in his family. Ann, 76, was a tennis player and casual bike rider before the two met.
