Christmas Lights from Doc

Some of you might have stopped by to see the display some of you might not even know about it.  This is my second year putting up a Christmas Light show to music.  This is what I'm working on when I'm not riding a bike.  If you have the chance stop by 1079 McLaughlin Ct, Gallatin to check out the show.  If you want to follow the show like me on BooneShineFamilyLights.

Suspending Thursday Night Rides

 Thursday night rides are being suspended until early spring. 

Suspending Tuesday Rides

Its that time of year when the sun sets earlier and earlier.  We are suspending the Tuesday night rides and will restart in the early spring.  

We will be doing FOGBEE spin at the Y and Dave Miley will be posting Saturday rides.

The Farm Out and Back Ride and Tailgate Party, Saturday, 10/3/20

 This Saturday, as Jack and Back has been canceled, it is being replaced by The Farm Out and Back Ride.  You guessed it, we will ride from The Farm at 8:00.  Dave Miley will  be planning the route.

After the ride, we will have a tailgate party.  Bill Barton is bringing up one of his trailers so that we can watch some college football.  Fire pits will be blazing.  

Party time will be 12:00. So, bring your favorite adult beverage, cigars and a side dish (Post what side you will  bring) and hangout for a fun afternoon.

Red Boiling Springs 2020

 I am sorry to announce that the RBS ride and weekend in Red Boiling Springs has been cancelled for 2020. We will have something planned from "The Farm" to celebrate Sherry's birthday, stay tuned, who knows we may pull a rabbit out of the hat and make it a weekend event yet. 

Thank you for you patience as this has been a very trying year for us all, I am sadden that this Fogbee tradition has to be postponed on my watch, but as stated above maybe we can still make a memorial weekend.

RIDING AT 8:00.  MAY GET A LITTLE WET, BUT STILL RIDING.
He may not look it...
He may not want to admit it...
He probably can't believe it...
But he is going to have come to terms with it.  Dave is turning 60 on the 29th.  Come ride from The Farm this Saturday, 8/22 at 7:30 and provide some support to Dave as he comes to grip with old age.
We will grill brats and burgers.  So, bring your favorite adult beverage, a side dish and a chair and hang out with Dave as he comes to terms with reality.  Kelly could probably use some advice from some of his older friends on what she can look forward to in his twilight years.

Pedal for Paws 2020 Cancelled

The FOGBEES have proudly supported the Pedal for Paws Bicycle tour for the 10 years of it's existence.  This highly regarded ride benefits Sumner Spay and Neuter Alliance, which is has helped  greatly reduce the number of homeless dogs and cats in Sumner County.
The 2020 ride was originally scheduled for May 2. Due to the restrictions placed due to Covid-19, the ride was postponed to August 29.  The organizing committee, which includes several FOGBEES, planned diligently to have a ride that would be safe for riders and volunteers and still be fun. The conclusion has been reached that we cannot achieve these objectives.  Sadly, the 2020 ride is raising the white flag to Covid-19. 
With much hope 2021 will be much better, May 1, 2021 has been set for Pedal for Paws 2021.

We're getting all kinds of weird renditions of the FOGBEE newsletter (sent out last night) depending on which email client one is using.  Just click on the "View in Browser" and, if you are using an updated version of Firefox or Chrome, all looks perfect.  I suspect updated versions of Safari do equally well.

Boone Shine Family Christmas lights

One of my many hobbies besides bike riding and beer drinkin' is Christmas lights.  This year is the first time I've done them to music.  So if y'all are out and about in the Gallatin area looking for Christmas lights stop by and check out the show.  I'm at 1079 McLaughlin Ct in Kennesaw farms.  Show runs from 5 to 10 pm daily on channel 105.5 (it's on the sign too)!

Lucy's mother, Earline Dorris passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019.

Funeral Services will be held at Woodard Funeral Home in Westmoreland, TN Tuesday, 11/26.  Visitation will be from 10:00AM to 12:00PM and  with funeral service following immediately.

Natchez Trace Parkway

The Natchez Trace Parkway is a 444 mile long designated bike route through the states of Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee. It is a beautiful road that is shared by motor vehicles, cyclists, hikers, and many other users who enjoy it's quiet, natural experience through history and as such it is one of our most popular bike routes. However, the National Park Service is proposing to add rumble strips to certain sections of the Natchez Trace Parkway to make it "safer" for distracted drivers, but at the same time make it more challenging and potentially dangerous for cyclists and other non motorized travelers.

I oppose this proposed project and encourage my Fogbee friends to make their voices heard as the NPS is currently soliciting comments on this subject until Friday December 20, 2019. I know a little about the planning process so don’t just send in a comment saying you are against this proposal. You have to be specific as to why you are opposed to this project. Passing of Bruce and Wilma Day's Daughter

Bruce and Wilma Day's daughter Amy Day died unexpectedly on Saturday evening.  

Visitation will start at noon this Friday (11/1/19) at Hendersonville Memorial Gardens. Services will follow at 2 PM.

Harold Gene Denning Funeral

 With sad heart, Danny Denning's father Harold Gene Denning passsed away this morning.

Visitation will be at the Robertson County Funeral Home, 2201 Memorial  Blvd, Springfield, TN 37172 on Tuesday from 3:00-7:00 and at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. on Wednesday from 12:00-2:00.   The funeral will be held at the Mt Carmel Baptist Church 7109 Highway 25 E., Plains, TN 37049.

Red Boiling Springs Oct 25th - 27th - Update

Plans are confirmed and finalized for our weekend ride to Red Boiling Springs and stay at the Armour's Hotel.

Lake Champlain Loop

In June 2019 we did an eight-day bike ride looping Lake Champlain with a stop in Montreal and visit with the Montreal Bike Club.  The adventure was shared with three articles published in the Indian Lake Peninsula Living magazine.  Here are those three articles: (Aug) New York, (Sep) Quebec, and (Oct) Vermont.

For November's article we will be highlighting the State Line Riders with article contributions from Tony Hernandez, Brian Beisel, and Phil Vickery. 

Red Boiling Springs Oct 25th - 27th

Update 9/26/19
Plans are being finalized for our weekend ride to Red Boiling Springs and stay with our good friends Dennis and Debbie at the Armour's Hotel. This three day two night ride will start on Friday October 25th riding from Gallatin (location TBD), riding local from the hotel on Saturday and riding back to Gallatin or your destination on Sunday Oct 27th. There will be a selection of Saturday routes to accommodate all levels, and all days are tour pace.
