Lites No Longer?

It is with great pleasure that I announce that 5 Fogbees have joined the ranks of other cyclists who have officially lost their minds.

Bob G, Christy, Jennifer, Lisa, and Phil completed their first century ride. I propose that they should be formally declared graduates of the Fogbee Lite program, and bestowed with all the rights and privileges of such achievement.

Joining them in Clarksville were Andrea and John D. , Bryan, Evan, Ann and myself. Bryan posted a personal best of over 19 mph for the course and I understand John completed it in 3 hours and 50 minutes, despite a badly timed train at one of the crossings.

If I missed anyone, sorry, please post corrections.

Something I have done since I started riding bikes is to keep a log of all of my rides. If there was a special ride(like Clarksville), I put down more notes than usual including times, average speed, mileage, etc...and I would suggest to everyone that rode today to do this so next year you can do the same ride and see how much you have improved in 1 years time. This was a day of major accomplishments for everyone who rode...Tom averaged over 16.1 mph and Jennifer put in a 16.8 mph average. We are certainly an impressive recreational riding club!

I must add that... I WAS NOT LAST. :-) That was pretty much my only goal. Seriously, it was a great day with thanks due to Bob for letting me draft for 50 miles or so and providing the pain killers!

I have to add Chad Moss to the list. He rode the 62 mile event in a blistering time of 2 hrs 40 minutes. He was the fastest in this event.

I can only imagine what those people must have thought watching Christy chase me all over TN and KY yesterday. Thanks’ Christy for riding with me yesterday. Having a great riding partner really helps. I was not the last one to finish the event either.

Thank Tom. I wish I had had the time (and endurance) to ride the full 100. I thought the group I was riding in was going fast.....until the elite 100 mile peleton flew past us (including John). It was really a great ride for a great cause.

I call for a FOGBEE's elite peleton for the 2010 ride!!!!!

In true Fogbee spirit, some of us should also thank the Subway folks for having a conveniently placed lunch spot in the town square at Elkton. That sandwich, and a few minutes of rest made the last 40 miles much better. A good ride all around.

Congratulations to you one an all!! You are in inspiration to both the struggling Newbee and those of us old timers who may be getting a little stale. Well, me anyhow.

We never thought that as a Newbee last year we would ever be able to do a Century. Thanks to those that helped and motivated us through the year. We had a great time (if you can call leg cramps for 45 miles fun)! We hope to improve our time next year.
