A California cyclist and a friend are hit by a car and the driver speeds away! The driver claims(much later) that his car was stolen. Check out the video begining at 2 minutes
Not to fan the flames, but I predict the driver gets away scot free and the cyclists' get a ticket for running a stop sign in the first minute of the video.
Contrary to folklore, the world is not against bicyclists. The owner of the car, 43-year-old Michael Medaglia, caught on this video sideswiping the two cyclists was arrested in connection with the incident and was booked on charges of felony hit-run.
The two cyclists banged up in the crash, suffered some abrasions and torn clothing but were able to walk away from the wreck. The bikes were significantly damaged. This video has been viewed over 200,000 times since posted.
Medaglia was booked in to Alameda County Jail. Investigations are still seeking additional evidence.
You are right of course. I just wanted to point out that if you take video, the opposing side can use it against you as well as for you. Best to right with the rules of the road all the time.
The last 2 Monday night rides, car drivers stopped to let us turn left, but the guys behind them did not. (Confusion ensues) The more we follow standard driving rules, the more drivers will behave similarly in a predictable way.
