With a heavy heart I want to inform you that we have lost another FOGBEE. "Doc Brew" or "Doc" as we called him lost his battle with cancer last night and passed, he was 51 just a few days from his 52nd birthday..
His wife Keri told me they "will be making plans in the coming days and want to make sure all Shan's biking friends are included. He loved you all. I will keep you posted"
1/22/24: Today mid afternoon, Bruce finally got home. He felt much more comfortable in his own bed. He still requests that we refrain from calling, emailing or texting until he regains more strength. He just gets too tired.
He said that he will reach out to us as he begins to feel well and strong enough.
1/17/24: Bruce has had a tough time but he said he is feeling quite good. Late this afternoon he finally got moved from the ICU to a step down floor. Still no word on when he may get discharged. He still tires very quickly. His spirit remains very positive.
"Bruce is out of surgery. Heart good. Only two bypasses. Said good bypass material." Wilma - 01/05/24: 1 PM
12/22/23: Bruce and Wilma very much appreciate everyone's concern and best wishes. Please wait no calls or visits until Bruce is home in a week.
Dave

RBS 2023 IS IN THE BOOKS! If you missed it there is always next year. We started out on Friday Oct 20th with 13 riders but unfortunately a broken spoke sent "purple bike Mike G." home early; too bad "MacGyver Bruce" or "MacGyver" Ed wasn't along. Weather was perfect, food was good, fire pit was good, routes were good, but most of all the company and fellowship with great friends was amazing and always the weekend highlight! Without participation this 3 day ride is not possible, thanks to all that attended and helped with the planning. Special thanks to Traci and Mike Short for providing the vehicle and hauling bags and coolers to RBS and back! Everything else can be a mess and tolerable but without our bags and coolers its a "crap show." Thank you Traci and Mike!
Final plans are in place for this upcoming weekend ride to Red Boiling Springs October 20,21,22. Saturday and Sunday forecast looks good with mostly sunshine and cool temps, Friday we may have to start in the rain, but looks like it will move thru quickly, so dress accordingly.
NOTE: There are two rooms available, if anyone would still like to join in. Call me.
Nine days before we depart for Red Boiling Springs and a fun three days of riding, socializing with great friends, relaxing, great food and drink.
IT IS NOT TO LATE to join us, one day, two days, or all three, would love to have you and your spose or significant other. There are two rooms available at the Armour's Hotel.
Contact me directly to hold a room or questions. Final plans will be posted Sunday October 15th. jerialwoodall@gmail.com or 615-572-5045
See ya there!
Woody
Start time: 8:00 from the Gallatin Civic Center
Bob (aka Aussie Bob) is pedaling back from Baltimore to Hendersonville. He left our group from Cumberland on Sunday, October 1st. He plans to share his adventure with webpages from our Hendersonville to Cumberland blog. Yes, he is doing it ALL BY HIMSELF.
Check Bob from his blog https://bob2dti.blogspot.com/p/bobs-page.html
Fogbees have a history of fundraising and participating in the Ride to Jack n Back to support the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Circumstances this year have taken us down to a couple riders for the ride next weekend, October 7 & 8. But if you're so inclined, you can still support the event with a donation, or you can still register to ride, for that matter. Just go to...
It is hard to believe that another October is almost here and you know what that means? Not just "Football Time In Tennessee", but FOGBEES annual fall ride to Red Boiling Springs and the historic Armour's Hotel!
Patrick is going to be in town this weekend and is looking forward to riding with his FOGBEE friends.
We will ride from The Farm at 8:00AM.
After ride social hour will be at the White House Pizza and Pub. Peroska and the kids may be joining us as well after the ride.
Going to be a great morning for a ride.
See you on the road,
Mike

I don't know how he has time to do a YouTube Journal but Mark is doing it. The rest of us have used Crazy Guy on a Bike, but YouTube is an order of magnitude better. We can feel that we are on the ride. I know most of us could have never been able to do this tour. I am enjoying every minute Mark is sharing.

FOGBEEE TEAM STORE FOR FOGBEE JERSEYS IS REOPENED
If you missed ordering a jersey during the last team store, the store has been reopened. Below is the link for ordering.
It is recommended that you use Jackroo's sizing survey to ensure a good fit. If you do, and it does not fit, Jackroo will replace it with a different size for only the cost of shipping the jersey back.
The opening price level is $111. We need to get to 6 jerseys to get a discount price of $91. (Unfortunately, Jackroo had a 3% price increase since we last ordered.
The store will be open for 12 days. After that, it will take about 2 weeks to ship the jerseys. Your credit cards will not be charged until they actually ship the jerseys.
I have ordered another one, so we only need 5 more.
https://jakroo.com/store-front?storeId=H1V6h9DWc
Enjoy the jersey.
See you on the road,
Mike
| . | Hendersonville Parks and Recreation adds a BIKE REPAIR station on its green- way trail. I am not sure why they selected the location. I would have placed a different spot. But, it's a great thought. What do you think? Do you know where it is at? |
The Spring/Summer 2023 issue of the Rails to Trails magazine included Exploring the Evolution of E-Bikes in America. The last section was titled But Is It Cheating? That is always the common exclamation from the purist bicyclist, and maybe the most ignorant advocates.
Claire Martini, the project manager for the Leafline Trails Coalition of Washington State, said "Are multiple gears cheating? Is a lightweight carbon-fiber frame cheating? Suspension?"

Great turn out today with a swarm of FOGBEES to ride one of four routes in beautiful upper Sumner and Robertson counties; 41, 44, 50 and 55 miles from "The Farm" in White House. Several sporting the new 2023 FOGBEE Jerseys'. Good fun, good food and fellowship was shared by all following the ride with a cookout hosted by Mike and Sherry.
This Saturday, we are going to have a ride from The Farm followed by a cookout. The ride will start at 7:45AM so I can get back and get the grilling going.
I am smoking a butt on Friday and grilling brats and burgers on Saturday following the ride.
Bring your favorite side, your favorite adult beverage and your favorite CHAIR and enjoy a lazy comfortable afternoon under the tree canopy following the ride. Significant others and more than welcome since they have to put up with us riders leaving them on their own every Saturday.
PLEASE post of you are coming so that we know how much food to prepare.
See you on the road,
Mike

Mark leaves on Sunday for his bike packing from the Pacific to the Atlantic. On this YouTube he describes his camping gear. I can't remember half the gear he has. (That's why my touring is Inn-to-Inn.) But then again he is a camping expert and only 70 some years old.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rg8hG524jRo .
Few of us could handle this adventure. So, I am looking to watch him as he shares his ride on YouTube for the rest of us. Good luck Mark.
6/7 Day 1
Hendersonville's first Bike/Ped Committee in 2000 suggested a greenway be built along Drakes Creek from Gallatin Road to Sanders Ferry Park. It was a no-brainer, but it took until 2023 to be built. Click on progress from the City's Capital Project.
13 JERSEYS ORDERED SO FAR. 11 MORE TO THE NEXT PRICE BRAKE OF $81. CREDIT CARDS ARE NOT CHARGED TILL THE STORE CLOSES AND FINAL NUMBER OF JERSEYS ARE ORDERED.
We have updated the look of the FOGBEES jersey with Jackroo. We have gone with the FORZA design. Have decided to upgrade the style of the jersey to a newer better quality jersey that can fit all body builds.
| . |
The FORZA is the latest jersey design, well suited for both the casual rider or serious racer, keeping you comfortable and aero in all conditions. The FORZA combines a traditional inset sleeve, with clean seam lines front and back for a classic Italian-style look. The back features 3 easy-access pockets and a hidden zipper key pocket to stash your valuables. Select one of 3 fit styles to suit to your preferences and body type.
Below is the link to order a jersey or two. The cut off date is 5/31/23 for ordering jerseys. Based upon the number of jerseys being ordered so far, the price is $88. If we reach 24 jerseys, the price will be reduced to $81. Once you access the link, click on the jersey to place your order.
HOWEVER, BEFORE YOU PLACE YOUR ORDER, it is highly recommended that you use Jackroo's Free Size Recommendation service. The link to the form is at the top of the page in the link below. Complete it and Jackroo will respond the same day with a size recommendation. If it is incorrect, you pay to return the unused item to Jackroo (with tags on and within 14-days of original delivery date) and Jackroo will pay to have a new size created for you!
