Red Boiling Springs Update

A little over 3 weeks till we ride.  Tom E, Phil and I scouted the unknown part of the route last week and I think you'll be pleased with the new roads.  Armour House is full but  one room will likely open due to a  Fogbee cancellation. The Thomas House has a Ghost Adventure that weekend and is also full but the The Donoho,  1-800-799-1705, has open rooms.

About October 10 I will firm up the list of riders and especially numbers of diners for supper and breakfast.  So far no one has expressed an interest in parking a car in Hartsville. Several riders will be riding to Red Boiling Springs, eating, then driving back.  These considerations may prompt some route alterations so don't download the route until the last week.
Red Boiling Springs 2013 Website.

As always, send any questions or comments my way at bruceeday at gmail dot com.

10/4/2013  Please note route change. We will not be going through Hartsville on Day 1. I'll need to discuss any shorter options individually. Bruce

Just wondering if there will be any turtles doing the long route. Thinking about making the trip, but I don't want to make it race. It will be the longest ride for me since the spill, and I don't want to over do it.

Janice, Phil and I are riding long to RBS. I am not staying for the evening and returning after dinner and festivities.

I will also be riding long route at non-race pace.

How many fit in your vehicle Tom? I'm considering the long route and maybe hitching a ride back with you, if you have room for an orphan and her bicycle. ;-)

I plan on riding up on Saturday, wife and I having dinner and driving back to Portland that night.

My recollection of this yearly wonderful trip is that there have been no turtle, hounds or hare designations on this ride because it is a Bike Tour and has nevrr been a race. :)

I'm with Gary, I was under the impression it's a casual ride. Tammy and I will be riding is casually, chillaxing is the best descriptive I know to use.

Soooooo, no Hartsville on day 1? Where's lunch?

Okay, poor orphan daughter, Janice. You and your bike have a ride home along with starving JoHo.

Last place I know for sure for snacks is about mile 18 on US 31E.

I am riding long both ways at Gary's "touring" pace. Gail is joining for dinner and returning with Tom and Sharon.

Darn,
My response to JoHo was truncated. There's not anything between 31E and Lafayette. Plan on lunch in Lafayette at Agave's Mexican Restaurant. It will be mile 44 in the Wal-Mart Center on your right.
